Polish poet, writer and journalist, sister of the composer Grażyna Bacewicz. She studied theory and piano in the Helena Kijeńska-Dobkiewicz Music Conservatory in Łódź and journalism at the High School for Journalists in Warsaw. During the German occupation she stayed in Warsaw, got seriously injured in the Warsaw Uprising, taken to the camp in Pruszków and to the hospital in Grodzisk Mazowiecki.

In 1945 she moved to Lublin where she joined the journal "Gazeta Lubelska" and the second half of the 1945 she spent with her sister, Grażyna.  

After returning to Warsaw she started cooperating with several Warsaw journals publishing reviews, music, literary and theatre essays and her own texts. As a poet she made her debut in 1958 with a poem Drzewa [Trees] printed in Trybuna Literacka, and her first volume of poetry was published in 1961.

In the beginning of the 1950s she started cooperating with the Polish Radio and she worked in production of broadcasts for children: Nuty, nutki (combining poetry and classical music).
