Eugeniusz Morawski

A composer, teacher and painter. From 1899 to 1904, he studied piano (with Antoni Sygietyński) and composition (with Zygmunt Noskowski) at the Institute of Music in Warsaw and was also a student of the Warsaw School of Fine Arts. In 1908, he left for Paris, where he trained with André Gédalge and Camille Chevillard. He also studied painting at the Académie Julien and sculpture at the Académie Colorossi. In 1930, he returned to Poland and became director of the conservatory in Poznań, then head of the Secondary School of Music attached to the Warsaw Conservatory. From 1932 to 1939, he was vice-chancellor of the State Conservatory of Music. He was twice a juror of the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition (1932, 1937).
