RYSZARD ALZIN was born on 21 October 1991 in Warsaw. A pianist and composer, he completed his bachelor's degree in the class of Stanisław Moryto and is currently on the second year of a master's course in composition with Marcin Błażewicz and the second year of a bachelor's course in piano with Ewa Pobłocka and Maria Gabryś at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. He is a prize-winner of many competitions, including the Concours Musical de France in Paris (2004, Grand Prix and the special prize awarded by Schott International), the Stefania Woytowicz Polish Competition for Young Instrumentalists in Jasło (2006, First Prize and a special prize), the EMCY International Piano Competition in Ettlingen (2006, distinction), the ‘Karol Szymanowski in Memoriam' Polish Piano Competition in Warsaw (2007, First Prize), the Polish Piano Class Auditions in Jelenia Góra (2008, First Prize) and the 10th Halina Czerny-Stefańska and Ludwik Stefański Piano Competition in Płock (2008, Second Prize). As a composer, he was awarded a distinction for his cycle of piano pieces for children Muzyczne kolorawanki [Musical colouring book] in the Rydułtowy Composition Competition (2013). He has performed as a soloist with the Leopolis Orchestra of Lviv at the 16th Music in Sandomierz Festival, with a youth orchestra in Zabrze and with the Polish Radio Orchestra in Warsaw. He has attended masterclasses at home and abroad, with such professors as John Perry, Lee Kum-Sing, Andrzej Tatarski, Andrzej Jasiński, Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń, Krzysztof Jabłoński and Paul Gulda. He is a prize-winner of Jolanta and Aleksander Kwaśniewski's foundation Communication without Barriers and a grant-holder of the National Children's Fund. He has won the Minister of Culture and National Heritage's award several times.
