Elżbieta Karaś-Krasztel graduated from the Secondary Music School in Lublin in the class of Mieczysław Dawidowicz, and continued her studies at the F. Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw in the piano classes of Regina Smendzianka and Kazimierz Gierżod. After obtaining her graduation there, she continued her tuition with Victor Merzhanov (Moscow Conservatoire) and István Lantos (Music Academy in Budapest). She has received several scholarships from the F. Chopin Society in Warsaw, and has won the 1st Prize at the Polish Festival of Young Musicians in Gdańsk, as well as diplomas and distinctions at music competitions in Athens, Moscow, and Warsaw. She has given concerts in many European countries as well as Canada and Australia. She plays as a soloist with the Polish Chamber Orchestra and Sinfonia Varsovia. She has made a number of broadcasts for radio and TV, and has recorded as Mozart CD for German label Aperto.

She is an eminent performer of the music of Mozart, achieving a great success with her interpretation of the Concerto in E flat major under Jerzy Maksymiuk; after her performance of Mozart's works with Sinfonia Varsovia German critics wrote: "The greatness of His music cannot be expressed better..." Her repertoire includes rarely heard works such as Rachmaninov's Concerto No. 1, Prokofiev's Concerto No. 2, and Khachaturian's Piano Concerto. She also dedicates much attention to Polish music playing, apart from Chopin, the works of Paderewski, Zarębski and Malawski.

Recently, she has cooperated with the Prima Vista Quartet, playing the chamber works of Bach, Mozart and Chopin.
