Justyna Danczowska, born in 1981 in Kraków, began learning piano aged seven with Jadwiga Zychowicz. In the years 1990-1998 she was a pupil of Celestyna Koziak, then worked under the guidance of Mariola Cieniawa and Irena Rolanowska. She is currently a third-year student of Krystian Zimerman at Basle Academy of Music.

She first performed with orchestra at the age of twelve. In 1997 she won the Ludwik Stefański Piano Competition in Płock, also receiving the special prize for the best performances of works by Bach and Beethoven. In 1998 she won First Prize in the International Chopin Competition for Young Pianists in Szafarnia. In the 'Nuta na gruszce' competition for young musicians in Kraków (2000) she won First Prize and the PWM special prize for best performance of a contemporary work. In the years 1996-1999 she received a grant from the National Children's Fund of Poland, then for the next three years a Creative Grant from the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

In the summer of 2001 Justyna Danczowska and two students of Polish origins (Lech Antonio Uszyński, violin, Sebastian Uszyński, cello) founded the piano trio Elegiaque, which works under the guidance of Gerard Wyss. It has already won a concert in the Orpheus 2002 festival in Zurich and received the special jury prize in the Jeunesses Musicales chamber music competition in Neuchâtel (2002) and Third Prize in the Migros Kulturprozent chamber music competition in Zurich (2003). The Elegiaque Trio, one of the selected ensembles of the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now foundation, performs regularly in Poland, Switzerland other European countries. In the academic year 2002/2003 Justyna Danczowska received a grant from the Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Warsaw, funded by PKO Bank Polski S.A.
