The pianist Bogdan Czapiewski was born in 1949, in Gdynia. He studied under Professor Zbigniew Śliwiński at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, Professor Jan Ekier at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw and Professor György Sebők at the Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington.

He won prizes in several international piano competitions, including the Ferruccio Busoni Competition in Bolzano (1975), Viana da Motta Competition in Lisbon (1975) and Montreal Music Competition (1976).

He has performed in concert in the US and in Asia, and also in many countries of Europe, including performances at the St Petersburg Philharmonic, Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, Tonhalle in Zurich, Salle Gaveau in Paris, Budapest Philharmonic and Tivoli in Copenhagen, and he is always received most enthusiastically by audiences.

Bogdan Czapiewski has recorded for labels in Poland, Belgium, France, Germany and Japan. In 1987, he won the Grand Prix du Disque Liszt at the International Record Competition in Budapest.

He boasts a very wide repertoire, ranging from Bach, Beethoven and Chopin through to contemporary music. He is regarded as one of the most outstanding Polish pianists.
