Aleksandra Hortensja Dąbek

Aleksandra Hortensja Dąbek is a pupil of the Mieczysław Karłowicz Secondary School of Music in Katowice, in the piano class of Professor Wojciech Świtała. She began her musical education at the age of seven in the class of Beata Zając at music school in Krzeszowice, before continuing her training under Olga Łazarska in Cracow.

She has many significant achievements in piano competitions to her name, including First Prize in the under-18 category at the 21st International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition for Children and Youngsters in Szafarnia (2013), a first class distinction in the 7th EPTA Piano Competition for Secondary School Pupils in Cracow (2012), First Prize in the 6th All-Poland Piano Festival ‘Young Pianists’ Interpretations of Chopin’ organised by the Chopin Society as part of the Chopin Year 2010 celebrations, Third Prize in the 8th International Chopin Competition in Narva, Estonia (2010), and Third Prize in the 14th All-Poland Halina Czerny-Stefańska Piano Tournament in Żagań (2009).

She has performed in concerts at home and abroad. In 2013, she gave two concerts in Budapest at the invitation of the György Ferenczy Foundation, in November 2012 she played in Pamplona, in March 2011 she gave a recital in Budapest during the Polish-Hungarian Days, and in August 2012 a recital in Singapore. She has participated in many piano courses and workshops led by Kevin Kenner and Andrzej Jasiński, among others. In February 2012, she won a monthly Morningside Music Bridge piano scholarship at Mount Royal University in Calgary. Aleksandra is a grant-holder of the Polish National Children’s Fund, the Sapere Auso Foundation of Małopolska and the District of Trzebinia.
