Eugene Delacroix, French painter, one of the most oustanding representatives of Romanticism in European art. He was well-acquainted in music and propagated the idea of correspondance des arts.

He was a friend of Chopin and participated in his music evenings.

In 1838 he painted the famous portrait of Chopin and George Sand. It was destroyed between 1865-1873. Studies for this portrait has survived.
