Anna Czartoryska

Anna Czartoryska

The wife of Adam Jerzy Czartoryski. Chopin dedicated her Rondo a la Krakowiak in F major, Op. 14 from 1829.

In Paris, duchess Anna Czartoryska stayed in close contact with Chopin. There is a letter, in which she explains that her daughter Iza – Chopin’s pupil – is not feeling well and her lesson with Chopin has to be moved (Paris, circa 1947/48). Chopin willingly visited the salon of Anna and Adam Czartoryscy. He especially enjoyed the chamber "musical evenings", during which he played or "improvised delightful fantasies on polish melodies".
