Jean-Baptiste Clesinger called Auguste, French sculptor and painter. In 1846 he met George Sand, her daughter Solange (his future wife) and Chopin. He sculptured busts of both women (one of the sculptures representing George Sand, named Littérature, landed in Comédie Française in Paris).

After Chopin's death, Clesinger created about 17 works devoted to Chopin - death-masks and sculpture forms, basing on these masks. He also sculptured Chopin's funerary monument, located at the Père-Lachaise cemetery in Paris.
