Łukasz Dyczko

A saxophonist, he was born in 1997 in Gorlice. He was taught by Bernard Steuer at the Karol Szymanowski State Secondary School of Music in Katowice and is now a student of Paweł Gusnar at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. He has won many competitions, including the Marco Fiorindo International Music Competition in Turin (2013), the Przeworsk International Saxophone Festival (2014), the Stefania Woytowicz International Competition for Young Musicians in Jasło (2015) and the European Saxophone Forum in Wrocław (2016). In September 2016, he was the first saxophonist to win the Eurovision Young Musicians competition, organised by WDR television of Germany and the European Broadcasting Union. The final of that competition took place in front of Cologne Cathedral and was broadcast in many European countries. He has performed as soloist with such orchestras as the WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln, Polish Radio Orchestra, Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra and Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra. He has received grants from the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and from the ‘Pro Musica Bona’ and ‘Sare Auso’ foundations. He has been nominated for a ‘Passport’ of the Polish weekly Polityka (2016) in the classical music category and for a Coryphaeus of Polish Music award (2016) in the debut of the year category.
