KRZYSZTOF JABŁOŃSKI - winner of Third Prize in the 11th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (1985). He graduated from the piano class of Andrzej Jasiński at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice (1987). He is a prize-winner of international piano competitions in Warsaw (Chopin Competition 1985, Third Prize), Palm Beach (1988, First Prize), Monza (1988, First Prize), Dublin (1988, Second Prize), Tel Aviv (1989, Third Prize and Arthur Rubinstein Gold Medal), New York (1992, Jorge Boleta special prize) and Calgary (1991, Second Prize). He has performed in Europe, North America, Mexico, Israel, Japan and Korea, in such prestigious halls as the Berlin Philharmonic, Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Semper Oper in Dresden, Salle Gaveau in Paris and Warsaw Philharmonic, under the baton of such conductors as Mario Bernardi, Sergiu Comissiona, Jacek Kaspszyk, Jan Krenz, Krzysztof Penderecki, Witold Rowicki, Michael Stern, Tadeusz Strugała and Ronald Zollman. Besides his solo work, he also plays chamber music, performing with the cellists Andrzej Wróbel and Tomasz Strahl, violinists Wanda Wiłkomirska and Konstanty Andrzej Kulka, and the Deseret and Shanghai string quartets. Together with Tomasz Strahl, he founded the Chopin Duo. A professor of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, he also gives masterclasses and has been a juror of international piano competitions. He performed in the ‘Chopin and his Europe' festival in 2005.
