* 1916 (Weston-Super-Mare, England)

Lance Dossor – 4th Prize winner, 3rd International Frederic Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (1937). Lance Dossor studied piano playing with Herbert Freyer at the Royal School of Music in London and with Emil von Sauer in Vienna.

In 1926, he was awarded a Special Prize at the International Music Competition in Vienna. One year later, he took the 4th Prize at the Chopin Competition in Warsaw. In May 1938, at the Eugène Ysaÿe International Music Competition in Brussels, he again came 4th.

In Warsaw, Mr. Dossor's performances were well received. Music critics underlined that his playing was "precise to the highest degree, vivid, and in every detail a testimony to excellent education". The pianist never again performed in Poland.

Probably just after the war (though perhaps before its outbreak), Dossor left for Australia where he turned to teaching.
