Anna Malikova – 5th Prize winner, 12th International Frederic Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (1990). Anna Malikova started her piano education at the Special Music School at the Conservatoire in Tashkent with Tamara Popovich. Between 1979 and 1984, she studied at the Central Special Music School at the Moscow Conservatoire with Lev Naumov, then entered the Conservatoire proper to study further with Professor Naumov (1984–89), whose assistant she remained after her graduation in 1991. She also attended masterclasses in Lübeck.
Ms. Malikova took 5th Prize at the International Crown Princess Sonja Music Competition in Oslo (1988), and 5th Prize at the Chopin Competition in Warsaw in 1990. Her greatest success came in 1993 when she won 1st Prize at the ARD Competition in Munich, being the first pianist awarded in 12 years.
Ms. Malikova has performed throughout the former Soviet Union and then in Europe, Asia and South America where she enjoys particular success.
She has recorded for record companies Audite and Classical Records. Her discography includes works by Chopin (complete Etudes and Preludes, both Concertos), Schubert, Mozart, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Liszt and Soler, as well as contemporary Russian composers recorded for Moscow and Oslo broadcasts.
