Martin S. Hansen

Martin Hansen is a doctoral candidate at the University of Osnabrück, Germany, where he teaches piano and lectures on piano performance.

As a young Danish pianist, he did a year of studies in Paris and went on to study piano performance at McGill University in Montreal. Having completed his Master's degree with Profs. Charles Reiner and Tom Plaunt, he studied with Dr. Charles Rosen in New York, Prof. Hans-Ulrich Kunze in Germany, and the internationally acclaimed accompanist Rudolf Jansen in Amsterdam, as well as completing his diploma at the International Schubert Institute in Vienna. He has concertized extensively throughout Europe and Canada as soloist, Lied-accompanist, and as a member of the Deutsch-Dänische Klavierquintett. Recent performances include Hummel's Piano Concerto in A-minor, Piano Quintets by Schumann and Heise, Chopin's Préludes, and songs by Schubert and Schumann. His article, The Pedal Indications in Chopin's Préludes was published by the Narodowy Institut Fryderyka Chopina, 2004.
