INGOLF WUNDER was born in 1985 in Klagenfurt, Austria. At the 16th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, in 2010, he won Second Prize and also the audience prize and special prizes for the best performance of a concerto and of the Polonaise-Fantasy. He launched his career following victories in young pianist competitions: the 7th ‘Premio Vittoria Jaffa Righetti' International Music Competition in Cortemilia, Italy (1999), the 14th European Music Competition in Turin (1999), the 63rd Steinway Piano Competition in Hamburg (1999), the ‘Prima la musica' in Feldkirch, Austria (2000), the ‘Concours Musical de France' in Asti (2000) and the prestigious 36th Ferenc Liszt Competition in Budapest (2001), as well as his success in the Chopin Competition. He has performed in many parts of the world, including in Poland, the UK, France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan, South America and the US. In December 2012, he made his debut as a conductor, leading the orchestra of the Cracow Academy of Music in a special concert at the Cracow Philharmonic at the end of his training in conducting under Paweł Przytocki. He has performed in the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Vienna, Tonhalle in Zurich, Konzerthaus in Berlin, Laieszhalle in Hamburg, Mariinsky Theatre and Philharmonic Hall in St Petersburg, Warsaw Philharmonic, the Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, Suntory Hall in Tokyo and Théâtre National des Champs-Elysées in Paris. Since 2010, he has recorded exclusively for Deutsche Grammophon, including his debut CD featuring competition works by Chopin (2011).
