EVGENI BOZHANOV was born in 1984 in Roussé, Bulgaria, and began piano les sons at the age of six. He made his public debut in a Mozart concert aged twelve. In 2001, he went to study in Germany. His international career took off after he won prizes in several competitions, including the Svyatoslav Richter in Moscow, the Queen Elisabeth in Brussels, the Van Cliburn in Fort Worth and the Fryderyk Chopin in Warsaw. In summer 2011, he opened the ‘Chopin and his Europe' festival with Chopin's First Piano Concerto and a recital. He has since performed across Europe, including at the Musikverein Vienna, Philharmonie Berlin, Royal Festival Hall London and Tonhalle Düsseldorf. He has performed with the Philharmonia Orchestra London and the Swedish Radio and Lahti symphony orchestras. He has toured Europe with the Orchestra Nazionale della RAI and Japan with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin. He has also taken part in festivals in Lille, Sofia, La Roque d'Anthéron and Bad Kissingen and given recitals in Munich, Essen, Aachen, Krakow, Lisbon, Milan, Porto, Toulouse and Salzburg. Over the past season, Bozhanov appeared in concert with the BR Kammerorchester München, Orchestra Haydn Bolzano and Mannheimer Philharmoniker, gave recitals in Milan, Essen, Biarritz, Roussé and Sofia and undertook his fourth tour of Japan, this time with the Hyogo Performing Arts Centre Orchestra and Yutaka Sado. The Fryderyk Chopin Institute has released in its ‘Blue Series' a two-disc album featuring recordings of Bozhanov's performances during the 16th Chopin Competition. Evgeni Bozhanov performed in the ‘Chopin and his Europe' festival in 2010 and 2011.
