Dominik Wania - jazz pianist born in Sanok. He is regarded as one of the most promising Polish jazzmans. He studied piano at the Academy of Music in Cracow with Andrzej Pikul. He was also a stipendist of the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. He has been awarded numerous prizes at both jazz and classical contests.He has collaborated with such artists as Tomasz Stańko, Dave Liebman, Gary Thomas, Eddie Henderson, Don Byron, Zbigniew Namysłowski, Janusz Muniak and many others. His recording with the bassist Bronek Suchanek, "Skretch In Blue" (2008), was praised by critics.
Dominik Wania received first prize in the Tadeusz Zmudzinski Scholarship in Krakow (2001), as well as at the 7th Annual International Contest of Contemporary Chamber Music in Krakow (2003).
He has recorded for radio and television. He has participated at numerous festivals of jazz and classical music and was awarded prizes at jazz competitions, including the 7th Polish Contest of Jazz Standards (Siedlce 2003) and the Jazz on the Odra festival in Wroclaw (2005). In October 2005 he received the first prize at the 2th Jazz Pianists Competition in Warsaw.
