MARCIN KOZIAK was born in 1989, in Cracow, to a family with musical traditions. He studied with Stefan Wojtas at Cracow Academy of Music and with Tamas Ungar at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth (USA). He has performed at the Tokyo International Forum, Bass Performance Hall (USA), Warsaw Philharmonic, Polish National Opera, Auditorium di Milano, Cadogan Hall (London) and Salle Cortot (Paris). He has worked with conductors Alexander Lazarev, Antoni Wit, George Tchitchinadze, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Xieyang Chen, Maximiano Valdés, Yip Wing-sie, Charles Olivieri-Munroe and José Maria Florêncio, and with such renowned orchestras as the Warsaw Philharmonic, Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, Sinfonia Varsovia, Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Sinfonietta Cracovia. He has given chamber recitals with Aleksandra Kuls, Bartosz Koziak and Agata Szymczewska. He has performed at many important festivals and concert series (La Roque d'Anthéron International Piano Festival, Rubinstein Piano Festival, La Folle Journée au Japon). He has won numerous prizes, including First Prize in the 2nd International Chopin Competition for Young Pianists in Budapest (2006), Second Prize and three extra prizes in the 7th ‘Arthur Rubinstein in memoriam' International Competition for Young Pianists in Bydgoszcz (2007) and three hors concours prizes in the 16th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, where he reached the semi-final (2010); he also reached the semi-final of the 14th International Arthur Rubinstein Piano Competition in Tel Aviv (2014) and the 16th International Gina Bachauer Piano Competition in Salt Lake City (2014). He has recorded two discs of music by Chopin.
