Sołtys Adam

A conductor, composer, musicologist, teacher and journalist. From 1904 to 1911, he continued his violin studies with Maurycy Wolfstahl and theory with his father at the Conservatory of the Galician Music Society in Lviv. From 1911, he studied at the Königliche Hochschule für Musik in Berlin and then at the Königliche Akademie der Künste in Berlin. At the same time, he also studied musicology at Berlin University, gaining his doctorate in 1921. On returning to Lviv, he taught harmony, conducting, counterpoint and composing at the Conservatory of the Polish Music Society. In 1929, he became director of the PMS and artistic director of the reactivated Lviv Philharmonic.

In 1927, he was a juror of the 1st International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw.
