Young American pianist ERIC LU began learning piano at the age of six with Dorothy Shi. At the New England Conservatory Preparatory School, he studied piano with Alexander Korsantia and A. Ramon Rivera. In 2013, he entered the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where he currently studies with Robert McDonald and Jonathan Biss. He is also a pupil of Dang Thai Son. He has won First Prize in the Ettlingen International Competition, Germany (2010), Minnesota International e-Piano Junior Competition (2013), Moscow International Chopin Competition for Young Pianists (2014) and US National Chopin Competition in Miami (2015). At seventeen, he also won Fourth Prize in the International Fryderyk Chopin Competition in Warsaw (2015), becoming one of the youngest laureates in the history of the competition. He has performed in concert around the world, major venues in the 2015/16 season including the Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Beijing Concert Hall, Seoul Arts Centre, Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, Sapporo Concert Hall, Nohant Chopin Festival and Krakow Music Festival. Previously he has given recitals at Carnegie Hall in New York and at the International Chopin Festival in Duszniki-Zdrój, Poland. He has worked with such orchestras as the Warsaw Philharmonic, Minnesota Orchestra, Orquestra Clasica Santa Cecilia, New Jersey Symphony, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and State Youth Orchestra of Armenia.
