Winner of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition (2013), and also the Franz Schubert Piano Competition in Dortmund (2011) and the Sendai Piano Competition (2010). During the 2014/15 season, he was the first ever ‘Artistic Partner' of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, with which, as part of that special collaboration, he performed the complete piano concertos of Prokofiev, gave many chamber concerts and also embarked on numerous international tours. Partnership is one of the key features of Kholodenko's artistic work. As an esteemed chamber musician, he has worked with Vadim Repin, Alena Baeva and Alexander Buzlov. As a soloist, he has performed under the baton of such conductors as Valery Gergiev, Leonard Slatkin, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, Yuri Bashmet, Vladimir Spivakov, Kazuki Yamada and Carl St. Clair, appearing with such ensembles as the Philadelphia Orchestra, San Diego Symphony Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, RTVE Symphony Orchestra of Madrid, Orquesta Nacional de España and Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. He has given recitals in Boston and Lucerne, at the Moscow Conservatory and at the Aspen and Schwetzingen festivals, as well as in the UK and Japan. In 2013, he was artist in residence at the Mariinsky Theatre Concert Hall. This past season, he has made his debut at the Paris Philharmonic (with the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra) and in London (with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra), and he has also performed with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, as well as giving recitals in China and Japan. This season also saw him take up artistic residency of the International Piano Series in Freiburg. His recordings for Harmonia Mundi have included Grieg's Piano Concerto and Saint-Saëns's Piano Concerto No. 2 (with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and Miguel Harth-Bedoya), which was Gramophone magazine's ‘Editor's Choice'. Recently released was his album featuring Prokofiev's Piano Concertos Nos. 2 and 5.
