Violetta Bielecka

Conductor and artistic director of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic Chorus in Białystok, as well as a teacher, she completed studies in choral conducting at the State College of Music in Warsaw (honours graduate) and a post-graduate course in choral conducting and voice emission at the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. In 2000, she was made a professor of music. She is a full professor of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, on the Instrumental-Pedagogic Faculty in Białystok. From 1995 to 2017, she was president of the ‘Cantica Cantamus’ Association of Choral Music Enthusiasts in Białystok, also running the Chamber Choir of Białystok attached to the association. She initiated and organised the ‘Polish Choir of Peace’ international workshops, and from 1995 to 1997 was vocal consultant of the chorus at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera in Warsaw. Her ensembles have won many awards: the PNO Chorus won a ‘Fryderyk’ from the Polish record industry several times (2009, 2016, 2017) and also an ICMA, one of the most prestigious phonographic awards (2018). She has also received many personal awards, including the Honorary Badge of Podlasie Voivodeship for disseminating musical culture (2017), the Gold Medal for Long Service from the President of Poland (2010), the Prize of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (first degree) for her artistic and didactic achievements (2009), the Medal of the National Education Commission (2009), the ‘Gloria Artis’ Silver Medal for services to culture (2008) and the Gold Cross of Merit awarded by the President of Poland (1990, 2002). At ‘Chopin and his Europe’, Violetta Bielecka and the PNO Chorus have taken part, under the baton of Fabio Biondi, in performances of Bellini’s Norma and I Capuleti e i Montecchi (2010, 2016) and Verdi’s Macbeth (2017).
