2006 From Mozart to Friedrich Gulda

2006 From Mozart to Friedrich Gulda

In this year's edition of the festival Chopin and his Europe, subtitled 'From Mozart to Friedrich Gulda', on the 250th anniversary of the birth of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the Fryderyk Chopin Institute pays tribute to the great Viennese composer. Alongside works by Chopin and Mozart, the festival programme will also include music by Beethoven, Schumann, Grieg, Panufnik, Gulda and others.
This year's festival is organised in collaboration with the National Philharmonic, the Grand Theatre - National Opera and The Polish Radio.

From 19 to 31 August, 12 concerts will be held: 8 symphony concerts, 3 recitals and one concert of chamber music. Over the course of the festival we will be hosting some 200 performers - 20 soloists, 4 conductors and 3 orchestras. Among others 4 winners of the Chopin Competition are expected to play: Martha Argerich, Rafał Blechacz, Garrick Ohlsson and Dang Thai Son. We also have the internationally renowned artists: Nicholas Angelich, Andrzej Bauer, Renaud Capuçon, Rico Gulda, Paul Gulda, Nelson Goerner, François-Frédéric Guy, Lilya Zilberstein, Olli Mustonen, Fou Ts'ong, Sergio Tiempo, Makoto Ozone, Kristian Bezuidenhout, Paquito D'Rivera. They will be accompanied by the National Philharmonic Orchestra, Sinfonia Varsovia and Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century. The orchestras will be led by Frans Brüggen, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Alexandre Rabinovitch-Barakovsky and Antoni Wit.
