Łukasz Byrdy

Born on 29 June 1994 in Katowice. He is presently a student at the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań, in the piano class of Prof. Waldemar Andrzejewski and Dr. Joanna Marcinkowska and at the Berlin University of the Arts, in the piano class of Prof. Klaus Hellwig. Łukasz is a laureate of many Polish and international competitions, including the 3rd International Piano Competition Halina Czerny-Stefańska in memoriam in Poznań (2014) and the 10th International Piano Competition Arthur Rubinstein in memoriam in Bydgoszcz (2014), as well as competitions in Płock, Zabrze, Konin, Antonin, Szafarnia, Jelenia Góra and Warsaw. In October 2015, he took part in the 17th Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw, at which he qualified for the 2nd round. In 2010 and 2011, as a result of competitive auditions, the pianist received a scholarship to take part in the "Morningside Music Bridge" international music courses which took place in Calgary (Canada). In 2012, he received a full scholarship to take part in the "Aspen Music Festival and School" (USA). In 2013, he appeared at a Polish-Russian music festival in Moscow, as well as in the Young Talents concert series organized by The Fryderyk Chopin Institute. In 2014, he received the title of laureate of the Polish Piano Festival Youth Stage in Słupsk and performed a recital as part of the 69th Chopin Festival in Duszniki Zdrój. In 2015, he appeared at, among other events, the World Expo in Milan, as well as the Chopin and His Europe and Chopin in Autumn Colors festivals. Łukasz Byrdy has concertized in many important Polish cultural centers, among them the Warsaw Philharmonic Hall, the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of Polish Radio in Warsaw, the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra hall, the Fryderyk Chopin Museum in Warsaw, Duszniki Zdrój, Żelazowa Wola and the Krzysztof Penderecki European Centre for Music, as well as the Silesian, Opole, Lower Silesia and Poznań Philharmonic Halls. He has taken part in courses led by such distinguished teachers as Dang Thai Son, Tatiana Shebanova, John Perry, Kevin Kenner, Andrzej Jasiński, Krzysztof Jabłoński, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Choong Mo Kang, Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń, Andre Laplante, Janusz Olejniczak and Dmitri Alexeev. He concertizes in Poland and abroad (USA, Canada, Russia, Austria, Italy, Germany).
