Elżbieta Karaś Krasztel

After completing  her studies in the class of Professor Mieczysław Dawidowicz at the Secondary Music School in Lublin, she entered the F. Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, where she studied piano in the class of Professor Regina Smendzianka.  After graduating from the Academy  she continued her studies under Professor Victor Mierzanov  the Moscow Conservatoire and Professor Istvan Lantos, the Academy of Music in Budapest. She has many times been awarded a scholarship of the Frederic Chopin Society in Warsaw. She is a First Prize Winner on the National Festival of Young Musicians in Gdańsk and received numerous diplomas and distinctions at competitions, among others – in Athens, Moscow (P. Tschaikovsky International Piano Competition) and Warsaw (X International F. Chopin Competition). She performed in many European countries, Canada and Australia, and collaborated as a soloist with Polish Chamber Orchestra and Sinfonia Varsovia. Elżbieta Karaś-Krasztel has made numerous recordings for Polish Public Radio and TV and released records with music by W.A. Mozart for the Aperto and Dux recording company. The artist is an outstanding Mozart’s works interpreter. She has had a great success performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto in E flat major K.482, conducted by Jerzy Maksymiuk at Berliner Philharmonie. The pianist devotes a lot of attention to Polish music and she plays, apart from her rich repertoire of Chopin works, pieces by I.J. Paderewski, J. Zarębski and A. Malawski. She has been running a piano class at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music and the Szczecin Art Academy. In recognition of her artistic and pedagogical work she has been awarded numerous prizes including the Individual Award of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of Poland  and the Medal for Merit to Polish Culture Gloria Artis.
