CONFERENCE THEME

The theme of the conference is the musical tradition of Poland and Norway, including the mutual penetration of those two countries' traditions in both music and dance. Besides specialist lectures, discussion and valuable encounters, participants will also be able to take part in Norwegian and Polish traditional dance workshops. The conference will end with a concert by the Norwegian group Feleboga and the Prusinowski Trio of Poland.

10:00-11:00 lecture: Hans Olav Gorset - Hand-written Norwegian music books - documentation and inspiration / Norweskie rękopiśmienne książki muzyczne - dokumentacja i inspiracje

11:00-11:15 coffee break

11:15-12:45 Norwegian dance workshops: Hans Olav Gorset, Hans-Hinrich Thedens

 

12:45 - 13:45 dinner

 

13:45-14:45 lecture: Ewa Dahlig-Turek - ‘Polish rhythms' in Scandinavia / „Rytmy polskie" w Skandynawii

14:45-15:45 lecture: Hans-Hinrich Thedens - Triple meter couple dances from east to west / Tańce dla par w metrum trójdzielnym od wschodu do zachodu

15:45-16:00 coffee break

16:00-17:00 lecture: Tomasz Nowak - Choreographic technique in traditional Polish country dances and Polish national dances / Choreotechnika tradycyjnych polskich tańców wiejskich a polskie tańce narodowe

17:00-18:30 Polish dance workshops: Prusinowski Trio

18:30-19:30 supper

19:30-21:00 concert: Prusinowski Trio and Feleboga

Please send requests to participate in the conference and the workshops by email to conference@nifc.pl in the form of completed application forms. Closing date for applications: 31 July 2014

 

COSTS

Participation in the conference is free of charge. We also offer free bus transport from the car park on Ordynacka Street, next to the Fryderyk Chopin Institute, departing at 7 a.m. and returning immediately after the concert. Anyone without a personal invitation is welcome to purchase the meals on offer, indicating this in the relevant rubrics on the form.

 

CONFERENCE LANGUAGES

The conference proceedings and workshops will be conducted in Polish and English. Interpreting will be given for the lectures.
