On September 13th the final-round auditions of the 1st International Chopin Competition on Period Instruments were completed. The jury awarded prizes and honorable mentions.

Main Prizes:
1st prize (15 000 €) – Tomasz Ritter (Poland)
2nd prize ex aequo (10 000 €) – Naruhiko Kawaguchi (Japan), Aleksandra Świgut (Poland)
3rd prize (5 000 €) – Krzysztof Książek (Poland)

Special prizes:
Special Prize for the best performance of Mazurkas, founded by the Polish Radio (3000 €) – Krzysztof Książek (Poland)

Extra-statutory prizes:
Prize for the First Prize Winner; founded by "Siemaszko" company, based in Szczecin (10 000 PLN) – Tomasz Ritter (Poland)

PKN Orlen prize for pianist representing Poland most highly rated by Competition Jury (5000 €) Tomasz Ritter (Poland)

Prize of the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century:
Aleksandra Świgut (Poland)
Krzysztof Książek (Poland)

30 pianists from 9 countries (16 from Poland, 4 from Japan, 2 from China, 2 from France, 2 from Russia and 1 from United States, Ukraine, Belgium, Romania) took part in the first stage of the Competition, out of whitch 15 were quallified to the second stage, which took place at the Warsaw Philharmonic on September, 8th-10th. In the final stage, hold on September 12th and 13th, 6  candidates performed with the Orchestra of the 18th Century conducted by maestro Grzegorz Nowak.

The winners gala will be presented on September, 14th at the Warsaw Philharmonic Concert Hall and broadcast by Poland’s National Television. You can follow the whole Competition at the Chopin Institute Youtube Channel.
