NIFCCD 032 Alex Szilasi. Nocturnes NIFCCD 032 Alex Szilasi. Nocturnes

A Hungarian pianist whose links with Chopin extend from preparing editions of his music to performing his works on historical instruments, Alex Szilasi’s awards include ‘Best Soloist’ from Hungarian Radio (1991), the Ferenc Kölcsey Cultural Prize (2005), and classical ‘Musician of the Year’ from both the Hungarian Academy (2007) and the Hungarian classical and jazz magazine Gramofon (2008).
This is the Fryderyk Chopin Institute’s first release of recordings made by Alex Szilasi of Chopin nocturnes in the unique sound of a Pleyel upright piano from 1847 – one of the most beautiful realisations around.

Recorded at the Witold Lutosławski Concerto Studio of Polish Radio, Warsaw, 3–6 February 2012.
