This album really restores the magical world of the 19th century Warsaw – Warsaw of the time of Chopin's youth. Charming Piano concertos by Lessel and Dobrzyński (a school friend of Chopin) – perfect examples of the sources of Chopin's stile, allow the listeners to feel the same atmosphere which Chopin recalled many times throughout his life.
Howard Shelley, world-famous British pianist and conductor, regularly gives concerts in Warsaw invited by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute and that's more, in his repertoire, he reserved a special place for less popular Polish music. Both concerts were recorded during the festivals Chopin and his Music, when Shelley appeared as a soloist and conductor, playing with the orchestra Sinfonia Varsovia.
