Fryderyk Chopin - Adam Czartkowski, Zofia Jeżewska Fryderyk Chopin - Adam Czartkowski, Zofia Jeżewska

The seventh edition of this Chopin biography based on recollections, memoirs, press articles and correspondence has been prepared, with commentaries and notes, by Piotr Mysłakowski and Ewa Sławińska-Dahlig.

It is one of the few books on Chopin to have aroused such considerable interest among readers. A bestseller, it undoubtedly helped popularise and enhance knowledge about the composer. It takes the form of a factual account based on recollections, memoirs, press articles and correspondence, providing both good source material and excellent reading. The authors skilfully intertwine the quotations with their own commentaries, producing a smooth-flowing text that preserves the objective transmission of biographical knowledge. The present edition takes account of recent studies casting new light on the facts related by Adam Czartkowski and Zofia Jeżewska. That feature, together with the up-to-date bibliography, numerous illustrations and appendices, not only makes for splendid reading, but also gives the reader the latest knowledge about Chopin. This book is published in collaboration with PIW.
