Jerzy Miziołek - Chopin e l'Italia Jerzy Miziołek - Chopin e l'Italia

Chopin e l'Italia, edited by Jerzy Miziołek with Wojciech Bońkowski and Leonardo Masi

Chopin e l'Italia, edited by Jerzy Miziołek, is a collection of articles in Italian about Chopin's relationship with Italy, published by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute, Warsaw University Museum and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura. It presents, in an interesting and colourful way, the composer's relations with Italians living in Warsaw and also with those he met on his numerous journeys. It emphasises the enormous influence exerted on Chopin by the music and culture of the Apennine Peninsula. It analyses Italian elements of the composer's style and compares them with the music and interpretations of native Italians. At the same time, it discusses the phenomenon of the italianità of Warsaw and of Warsaw University.

This is a collective, interdisciplinary work, comprising texts by outstanding musicologists researching the life and oeuvre of Chopin (Jean-Jacques Eigeldinger, Alina Żórawska-Witkowska, Dario Miozzi, Artur Szklener), editors of the new edition of the composer's correspondence (Zofia Helman, Zbigniew Skowron), musicians (Michele Sganga, Giuseppe Tavanti, Leonardo Masi) and also Jerzy Miziołek, director of Warsaw University Museum and designer of the Museum of Fryderyk Chopin's Youth within the walls of Warsaw University.
