Magdalena Oliferko's book is an absolute innovation as it comprises the letters included in the manuscripts of Julian Fontana to Stanisław E. Koźmian, shedding new light on the relationship between Chopin and Fontana. The author, owing to archival research, reached the number of documents related to Fontana's biography. [...] The partially unknown profiles of both figures; their sarcasm, wit and complexes, emerge through the letters, their selection and way of presenting including pictures and commentaries (...). This kind of study has never been available and has never appeared either in Polish or foreign literature. It is, therefore, a unique book, and it can be described as outstanding.
