Krystyna Borucińska

Krystyna Borucińska is a graduate of the F. Chopin High School of Music in Warsaw. She studied with Jan Wobożil, Irena Kirjacka and Jerzy Lefeld. She focuses predominantly on chamber music, which she studied in the class of Zofia Vogtman and Kazimierz Wiłkomirski. Playing in duos and in the Warsaw Piano Trio, she has received awards at national and international chamber music competitions (Gdańsk, Bordeaux, Belgrade), and has accompanied violinists and cellists are several international competitions (including Vienna, Munich, Budapest, Florence, and the Queen Elizabeth Competition in Brussels).

She has been active on the concert stage for many years, performing with such eminent artists as Roman Jabłoński, Krzysztof Jakowicz, Andrzej Hiolski, and Pierre Amoyal. She has been invited to play solo recitals by all philharmonics in Poland and other musical institutions, appearing also in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Cuba. She has also participated in prestigious music festivals such as the Flanders Festival in Ghent, Leporello in Schleswig-Holstein, Cervantino in Mexico, Łańcut Festival, Warsaw Autumn, and the Chopin Festival in Duszniki-Zdrój. She has appeared with many orchestras, and has on several occasions been invited by the Sinfonia Varsovia to participate in concerts and recordings. She has given first performances of works by contemporary Polish composers such as Witold Lutosławski, Marta Ptaszyńska and Piotr Moss.

Recordings are central to Krystyna Borucińska's art. She has recorded on many occasions for Polish and foreign broadcast, including the BBC, performing in London, Manchester, Bristol and Glasgow. She has also recorded several CDs, including a monographic disc dedicated to the music of Karol Szymanowski (together with violinist Krzysztof Jakowicz). She is also active as a teacher, currently working as professor at the F. Chopin Music Academy in Warsaw.
