Elżbieta Głąbówna – winner 6th award VII Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition in Warszawa (1965) – began studying piano at age six, in Kraków. In 1952, she became Halina Ekier’s student, under whom she continued her studies at the Chopin Music Secondary School in Kraków. She completed the school in 1962, obtaining a degree with distinction. The same year, she began studies at the Music Academy in Kraków under Prof. Jan Ekier, which lasted until 1967. While attending her third year at the Academy, she took part in the VII Chopin Competition in Warszawa (1965), where she took 6th prize.

She began her concert career while she was still studying, performing on the stages of many Polish cities (the Chopin Festival in Duszniki among others) as well as performances for Polish Radio and Polish Television.

In 1968, after getting married, she moved to Sweden where she played with symphony orchestras and gave recitals. Gradually she gave up performing in favour of pedagogical work.

In 1990, she moved with her family to Nice, dedicating herself solely to the formation of young pianists.
