Pavel  Gomziakov

Pavel Gomziakov was born in the city of Tchaikovsky in the Ural region of Russia in 1975. He began cello studies at the age of nine. When he was forteen, he moved to Moscow and studied at the Gnessin School and then at the Moscow State Conservatory with Dmitrij Miller. In 2000 he continued his studies with Natalia Schakhovskaya at the Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia, Madrid.

He was awarded at many international competitions. As a solist, he has performed all over the world with Eldar Nebolsin, Zakhar Bron, Augustin Dumay, Louis Lortie, Jose-Luis Garcia, Asencio Jesus Lopez Cobos, Anthony Ros-Marba and Trevor Pinnock. After the collaborative concert with Maria Joao Pires at Escorial Festival in Spain (2007) they founded a duo and performed in Europe, at Far East and in South America. Their conjoint recording of Chopin's "Sonata for Cello and Piano" was released in 2009 by Deutsche Grammophon and nominated to the Grammy award.

In 2008 Gomziakow recorded the Cello Concerto of Schumann with Orchestre de Chambre de Wallonie, conducted by Augustin Dumay. In April 2010 he made his USA debut with Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Trevor Pinnock.
