Yaara   Tal

An Israeli pianist, she studied piano with Arie Vardi and composition with Abel Ehrlich and André Hajdu at the Samuel Rubin Academy of Music in Tel Aviv. As a scholarship holder of the German Central Academic Exchange programme (DAAD), she began studies with Hugo Steuer and Ludwig Hoffmann at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich. One of her most important teachers has been Peter Feuchtwanger. With Andreas Groethuysen, she has formed the Tal & Groethuysen piano duet for more than thirty years, performing in such major concert halls as the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Berlin Philharmonic, Alte Oper (Frankfurt), Gewandhaus (Leipzig), Wigmore Hall (London), Teatro alla Scala (Milan), Frick Collection (New York) and Vienna Musikverein. For Sony Classical, the duo have recorded more than thirty discs (receiving such awards as the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik, ECHO Klassik, Cannes Classical Award, Editor’s Choice and Supersonic Award), including all the works of Schubert and Mozart, as well as previously unrecorded works by Carl Czerny, Reinhard Febel and Richard Wagner. The autumn of 2014 saw the release of Yaara Tal’s first solo recording, with music by Haydn, Schönberg and Bartók (Sony Classical), followed in 2017 by Polonaise, featuring works by Chopin and Franz Xaver Mozart.
