Tatiana Fedkina began learning music at the age of six, initially showing a talent for composition. She began writing musical compositions at the age of six, and wrote her first opera at the age of eight. In 1963, she entered the Central Special Music School at the Moscow Conservatoire, and later studied piano playing at the Conservatoire with Yevgeny Malinin. She graduated in 1980.

While a still a student of the music school, she reached the final stage of the Concertino Praha International Radio Competition for Young Musicians in Prague (1970). In 1974, she successfully participated in the 4th International European Music Academies Festival in Yugoslavia. One year later, she was awarded 3rd Prize at the Chopin Competition in Warsaw (1975).

Ms. Fedkina first appeared in public at the age of twelve. Later, she was a regular performer in Moscow, and developed her career on a larger scale in her student years. She performed throughout the Soviet Union, and in several European countries. She is praised for her accurate interpretation of Chopin (the mainstay of her repertoire), Schumann, Schubert and Tchaikovsky.
