Alexander Lonquich was born in Trier (Germany). He studied with Astrid Schmidt-Neuhaus, Paul Badura-Skoda, Andreji Jasinski and Ilonka Deckers and started his international career winning the First Prize at the International Piano Competition „Antonio Casagrande" in Terni, Italy at the age of sixteen. 

Alexander Lonquich has performed as a soloist and chamber musician at international festivals in Edinburgh, Salzburg, Lockenhaus and at the Klavierfestiwal Ruhr. He has been invited to the most important music centres in Europe, USA, Japan and Australia. He has collaborated with conductors such as E. Krivine, K. Sanderling, C. Abbado, S. Végh. For many years he has been cooperating with F.P. Zimmermann. As a chamber musician he has worked with Boris Pergamenschikow, Steven Isserlis, Veronika Hagen, Ulrike Anima Math, Wolfram Christ, Maurice Bourgue. His recordings for EMI received outstanding reviews .

He is also active as a conductor and pedagogue - he teaches at Accademia Pianistica in Imola (Italy) and at the international courses of interpretation in England, USA, Germany and Prague.
