Luciana Mancini

Mezzo-soprano. Born into a Chilean-Swedish family, she is a graduate of the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Recent roles have included Pantalis in Boito's Mefistofele at the Festspielhaus in Baden-Baden, the titular role in Piazzola's María de Buenos Aires at the Theater Bonn and Proserpina in Monteverdi's Orfeo (prod. Sasha Waltz with the Freiburger Barockorchester and Pablo Heras-Casado, presented at De Nationale Opera in Amsterdam, the Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg, and opera houses in Bergen, Lille, Baden-Baden and Berlin). Other stage roles have included Vita Mondana and Prudentio in Cavalieri's La rappresentatione di Anima et di Corpo (Staatsoper Berlin, cond. René Jacobs), Amastre in Handel‘s Serse (Theater an der Wien, cond. Jean-Christophe Spinosi), Annio in Mozart's La clemenza di Tito (Drottningholm Festival), Zaida in Rossini's Il Turco in Italia (De Nationale Opera) and Voluptia and Didone in Cavalli's L'Egisto (Opéra Comique in Paris). She has taken part in concert performances of Handel's Messiah (with the symphony orchestras of Melbourne and Queensland), Bach's St Matthew Passion (with De Nederlandse Bachvereniging) and Haydn's Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross (with the Bergen Philharmonic and Juanjo Mena). She has performed at the Vantaa Baroque Festival, Festival Baroque de Pontoise and Händelfestspiele in Halle, and also at festivals in Bilbao and Warsaw. With Christina Pluhar and her ensemble L'Arpeggiata, she has participated in such events as the Musikfestspiele Potsdam Sanssouci, Bruges Early Music Festival, Festival de Música Sacra in Cuenca, Festival de Semana Santa in Valladolid and Festival de Sablé.
