Érik Berchot – 6th Prize winner, 10th International Frederic Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (1980). Érik Berchot completed his music studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, in the piano and chamber music class of Germaine Mounier. He graduated from the Conservatoire winning 1st Prize in 1977, and took another 1st Prize in chamber music the following year. He took additional tuition with Yvonne Loriod.

Mr. Berchot has won international piano competitions in Senegal (2nd Prize, 1977), Vercelli (1st Prize ex aequo with Ewa Pobłocka, 1977), Barcelona (2nd Prize, 1978), Paris (4th Prize at Long-Thibaud competition, 1979) and Warsaw (6th Prize ex aequo with Irina Petrova at Chopin Competition, 1980).

Mr. Berchot has performed throughout Europe. At the International Chopin Festival in Duszniki in 1981, he played Chopin's Piano Concerto in E minor. In celebration of the 150th anniversary of Chopin's death (1999), Mr. Berchot gave a series of Chopin recitals aired on French television. He also participated in a popular series of theatre and music performances that took place in Paris theatres, during which famous actors read Chopin's letters.

He has recorded Débussy's 2nd Book of Preludes for Wifon.
