Federico Benetti

Bass. Born in Rome, he began his musical training by learning piano. As a graduate of Carlo Desderi's class at the Domenico Cimarosa Conservatory in Avellino, he honed his skills at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome with Renata Scotto, Anna Vandi and Cesare Scartona. He began his artistic career in 2005. His concert repertoire includes Mozart's Requiem, ‘Coronation' Mass and Vesperae solennes de confessore, Rossini's Petite Messe solennelle and Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. On the operatic stage, he has performed in such works as Pergolesi's La serva padrona, Mozart's Bastien und Bastienne and Don Giovanni (as Masetto), Britten's The Little Sweep, Puccini's La bohème (as Alcindoro, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino) and La fanciulla del West (Torre del Lago festival), Verdi's La traviata and Rigoletto (as Sparafucile), Richard Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier and Salome (Teatro dell'Opera, Rome) and Bizet's Carmen (as Zuniga, Trieste). He has recently sung the roles of Henry VIII in Donizetti's Anna Bolena (Reata Festival, Rieti, cond. Fabio Biondi), Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, Il Commendatore in Don Giovanni (Trier and Ferrara) and Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte, Sparafucile in Rigoletto (tour of France with the Opéra Nomade) and Samuel in Un ballo in maschera, Theseus in Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream and Charon and Pluto in Monteverdi's Orfeo (Festival Monteverdi in Cremona). He has taken part in a recording of La serva padrona released by Tactus.
