Maria Gabryś

Maria Gabryś attended the Zenon Brzewski Secondary School of Music and is a graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, where she was taught piano by Professor Teresa Manasterska (diploma with distinction) and ‘chamber’ piano by Professor Krystyna Makowska-Ławrynowicz.

In 2007, she graduated with distinction from the masterclass of Professor Ivan Klánský at the Musikhochschule Luzern in Switzerland, before continuing her studies in hammerklavier and fortepiano under Professor Jesper Christensen at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. She has also taken part in masterclasses given by such outstanding figures as Andrzej Jasiński, Murray Perahia, Andrey Gavrilov, Rudolf Buchbinder, Hiroko Nakamura and Kristian Bezuidenhout.

Maria Gabryś has won prizes in many national and international competitions, including the international Chopin competitions in Antonin, Goettingen and Mariánské Láznĕ, as well as First Prize in the International Ludwig van Beethoven Competition in Hradec (Czech Republic), the International Edwin Fischer Competition in Luzern and the ‘Chopin Gold Ring’ competition in Slovenia (historical instruments category), as well as many other prizes and distinctions.

She has been awarded grants by the Fryderyk Chopin Society, the International Fryderyk Chopin Foundation, the Polish Children’s Fund, the Mayor of Warsaw, the Polish Ministry of Culture and the ‘Crescendum est Polonia’ Foundation, which enabled her to continue her studies in Switzerland.

She has performed in Europe, South Korea, Japan and the USA, taking part in many piano festivals (incl. MittelFest in Italy, Hamamatsu International Piano Academy, Kyoto International Music Students Festival in Japan, Polish Music Festival in Słupsk, Murten Classics in Switzerland, Concerti di Primavera in Ronco sopra Ascona, Switzerland, and the Chopin Festival in Mariánské Láznĕ).

She has given recitals before many heads of state, as well as Emperor Akihito of Japan.

She has recorded for Polish Radio and DRS 2 (Switzerland).
