Jean-Marc Luisada – 5th Prize winner, 11th International Frederic Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (1985). Jean-Marc Luisada took his first piano lessons at the age of 6, with Marcel Ciampi and Denyse Rivière in Paris. He then left for England where he studied at The Yehudi Menuhin School. At the age of 16 he entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris to study piano with Dominique Merlet and chamber music with Geneviève Joy-Dutilleux. He graduated with distinction, and took additional tuition with Miłosz Magin in Paris.

Mr. Luisada participated in international piano competitions in Barcelona (1978), Cleveland (Robert Casadesus Competition, reaching semi-finals, 1979), Warsaw (Chopin Competition, 1980), Milan (Dino Ciani Competition, 2nd Prize, 1983) and again the Chopin Competition in Warsaw where this time he took 5th prize (1985).

Mr. Luisada launched his international concert career in 1981, with acclaimed appearances at New York’s Alice Tully Hall and the Salle Pleyel and Salle Gaveau in Paris. During the 1985–1986 season, he played for the first time in Germany, Austria and Denmark, and went on a tour of Japan the following year. Since then he has performed regularly in Europe, the United States and Japan. He has partnered major orchestras and conductors, including Charles Dutoit, Michel Plasson, Emmanuel Krivine, Michael Tilson Thomas, Adam Fischer, Hiroyuki Iwaki and Yehudi Menuhin.

He has also been active as a chamber musician with Jean-Pierre Rampal, Patrick Gallois, Michel Dalberto among others.

Mr. Luisada last performed in Poland in 1996 when he gave a recital at the Chopin Society featuring works by Haydn (Variations in F minor), Schumann (Carnival) Chopin (4 Mazurkas Op. 17) and Liszt (Sonata in B minor).

Mr. Luisada has made many recordings for Deutsche Grammophon, including Chopin’s complete Waltzes and Mazurkas, Granados’ Goyescas and piano concertos by Schumann and Grieg with the London Symphony Orchestra under Michael Tilson Thomas.
