Chopin und Wien

Chopin und Wien Chopin und Wien

Chopin und Wien contains selected papers presented at the international Chopin studies conference held in Vienna from 19 to 21 April 2010. Chopin’s two stays in Vienna represented an important experience for the composer and considerably influenced his artistic personality. The Austrian capital was the first foreign city in which a composition by Chopin was published (the Variations in B flat major, Op. 2), and it was also here that the composer enjoyed his first great success as a pianist.

The collected papers cover many aspects of the Polish composer’s links with Vienna, showing events in their musical, social, political and sociological contexts. The texts are in German and English, and the introduction was written by Prof. Theodor Kanitzer (president of the International Chopin Society in Vienna).
