A bit distanced in emotions, sensational in miniature, great at concert, Lukas Geniušas is a student of Moscow P.I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory in the class of Vera Gornostaeva. Geniušas is only 20-year-old Russian-Lithuanian musician, soloist and chamber musician with a rich repertoire, from Baroque to works of contemporary composers. Lukas Geniušas is the winner of the 2nd prize ex equo in the 16th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, 2010, and was awarded a special prize by the Frydeyk Chopin Society for the best performance of polonaise in the 2nd stage.
The presented double CD album contains the complete set of Etudes, Op. 25, the awarded Polonaise in F sharp minor, Op. 44 and Barcarolle in F sharp major, Op. 60. Sonata in B flat minor, Op. 35, performed by the pianist at the end of the 3rd stage, constitutes a romantic complement to the album.
